Frequently asked questions

Which intolerances does Inosinic acid affect?

Inosinic acid is notable for histamine. Clear on tyramine, salicylate, sucrose, FODMAPs, lactose, oligosaccharides, sorbitol, fructose, nickel, oxalates and gluten.

Does Inosinic acid contain histamine?

Inosinic acid contains only low levels of histamine. Inosinic acid is a nucleotide flavour enhancer extracted from yeast or from fish - both among the most amine-rich raw materials there are. Purification separates the nucleotide from the amines, so the additive itself carries none; the origin is why it appears on elimination lists, and why it usually sits beside yeast extract on a label. Blackwell measured yeast products, not this additive. Amounts vary by brand and recipe, so always check the label of the exact product.
