Note about this food
Carnauba wax is scraped from the leaves of a Brazilian palm, and it is the hardest wax in commercial use — which is why a coated sweet or an apple polished with it keeps its shine instead of turning sticky. A wax is a long-chain ester, not a sugar and not an amino acid, and it is used as a surface film measured in milligrams: it is neither fermented in the colon nor absorbed in the gut.
